The Central Vancouver Island Japanese-Canadian Cultural Society (CVIJCCS), also known as the Seven Potatoes Society, is a non-profit organization. It was originally founded as a social and cultural activity group mainly for the Japanese Canadian community in the Nanaimo area. However, it is open to anyone who is interested in the activities and goals of the society and really has an extended reach into the central Vancouver Island area. The society tries to celebrate the cultural heritage and links to Japan. The society does this by offering various activities and events aimed at promoting Japanese culture in the community. We publish a monthly newsletter and a Facebook page.
